@jwhogfann , oh wow….that is surprising. I’ve taken a small dose for a few years and during part of that time suffered with constipation. So, definitely no diarrhea for me as a side effect.

I too have the problem with stomach and doctor cannot find anything wrong after several scans. I have been on the meds for 2 years along with another medicine for blood pressure. I can only eat small meals, otherwise I get terrible stomach ache. I also suffer from constipation. I take 20mg at night

@patience1 please have your dr look at 2012 mayo study where thus meditation causes this problem and change blood pressure medication. Once I changed my gi issues went away and I started gaining my weight back..change your meditation and see if that helps

@jwhogfann - wondering if the Mayo Clinic 2012 study you mentioned was this one?

I realize this is an old thread, but returned to it since my doctor took me off this med due to dangerous intestinal risks.

Hi @celia16 - thanks for returning and sharing this. What were your doctor's specific gastrointestinal concerns with you taking this medication? Did you experience gastrointestinal issues personally while on it?

@lisalucier , well….. he told me it needed to be changed at a recent visit. This was regardless of any symptoms. However, I had recently had several incidents of diarrhea. I was concerned it was due to cyclosporiasis infection. I eat a lot of fresh veggies. Many cases have been reported in my area. We couldn’t be sure, but…..I immediately switched to a different med and feel fine. Could have been IBS. Hopefully, if I was suffering any ill effects they will resolve. I was only prescribed one-half of a 5 mg tablet once per day so hopefully no harm done. My BP last week at the doctor office was 110/70.

Dr had not idea what was going on my wife found this 2012 Mayo Clinic article about this medication causing serious gi issues so my dr and myself took me off this medication. Within two weeks I started being able to eat without pain and started gaining my weight back. I had been on it for at least 15 years without any issue the one day I started having gi issues and not knowing why
