Is this GERD? I also have anxiety

Posted by jadillow @jadillow, Feb 1, 2019

Hello all. For months I have been having left side focused pains. I have anxiety mind you. Let arm ache. Left chest ache. Feeling of lightheadeness that last for hours at time. This hasn’t been almost everyday for about 3 months. I have had all the heart test minus catheter even a visit to Er last night. They say heart is ok and I think they think of anxiety. About a month or so ago I began burping nonstop. No heartburn just burping. I told my GP and he prescribed me omepraloze Seems to help slightly.

If I do In fact have GERD could this cause pain near nipple area. Random squeezing that goes away after 1-29 seconds and also, not pain , but jaw tingling maybe is how to describe it. And the lightheadeness? I’m desperate for answers as GP and theee different Er docotrsnand a cardiologist all ruled out heart

@jadillow I kinda have the same symptoms. I am scheduled for an echo today. All I know thus far is I've been burping a lot and having tightness in my chest accompanied by lightheadedness. I'm also on omneprazole

I have the same issue, they out me on protonix but I also get the sensation of a lump in my throat when I swallow. Chest pain is also something I deal with I went to the ER twice because of the chest pain and getting light headed and feeling like I couldn't breath.

I've been getting chest pain ranging from dull to severe for about 4 months now on and off. The usual spot is lower left chest and other times its upper left chest, middle chest or on my right side. Some days it can last for hours upon hours and some days it's barely there. It's been accompanied by shortness of breath too most days and it began to worry me so I went and saw my GP and was told it was most likely GERD. I'm a very anxious person and that probably doesn't help when the symptoms show up and I work myself up over it but i'd like to know what other people think about it and if it sounds like GERD to everyone else.

Hi @tysuuuu, I moved your question about whether your chest pain might be GERD to this existing discussion. @jadillow was asking similar questions. Fellow members @annie2 @hamsy @fourof5zs @jamierb @trellg132 may also have some thoughts or advice for you.

I know your OP is years ago and I hope you are feeling better now. I thought your symptoms sounded like cervical radiculopathy. That can also cause lightheadedndss, affect the phrenic nerve, which can affect the diaphragm and cause upper digestive issues.

I really like Collens's reply but my mother in law gets panic attacks. She was taken to the hospital twice for this same thing before they treated her for panic attacks. She is fine now and was shocked that she was having panic attacks, she says for no reason at all. I have GERD and this doesn't sound like GERD to me. The biggest symptom of GERD is heart burn and acid reflux. It can cause chest pain, but I have never heard of this causing chest pain alone but I'm no doctor either.

@tysuuuu

Did your doctor run test to rule out the heart? To confirm GERD?
