Gastro Issues
I'm wondering if anyone with PMR has been diagnosed with LPRD, i.e., Laryngopharyngeal Reflux Disease. It's also known as "silent" GERD. I developed this disorder first, after a very severe respiratory issue. Then, a few months later developed PMR. I still struggle with the LPRD. I try to eat a reasonably healthy diet, but the PMR has complicated the picture. Any thoughts or information you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

I had mild GERD that was made worse by prednisone. My doctor prescribe a PPI to reduce the irritation in my stomach. I stopped the PPI recently when the prednisone got down to 1 mg per day. I also always took the prednisone with breakfast.
Thanks very much for the information. I am also on a PPI currently and tapering on the prednisone--also at 1 mg. I am hoping to be off within a month, but I've seen many stories on this site that make me a little nervous.
This post really interested me. I don't have GERD but I had an esophogeal spasm a few months before the PMR kicked in, and I've had a few since.
A few were horrific. Felt like a heart attack.
I hear stress can help these come on.
I was diagnosed with LPRD too. The ENT recommended Gaviscon. It's an alginate and works as a barrier between your stomach and esophagus. It works better than anything else I tried, even the prescription medicine.
Thanks for the info! Appreciate it!
