Gabapentin: How long does it take to help with nerve pain?

Posted by maria7521 @maria7521, Jul 23, 2018

Just wondering who has taken Gabapentin and how long it takes to help with nerve pain? I’ve been on it 10 days and it doesn’t seem to help!

It should be doing something by now,it takes a few days to get fully in your system and a few days to get out of your system once you wean of of it.

In my experience, it did nothing fr me, Doesn't mean it won't work for you.

I've been on it for 8 years and am still wondering the same thing. It doesn't help and is almost impossible to get off.

You have not provided enough information for anyone to make sense of this posting. How much are you taking? Are you truly getting no benefit from it at all? 8 years is a long time to take something that doesn't work for you. Where is your doctor in all this? It is actually very easy to get off Gabapentin: working with your doctor, you simply reduce your dosage over a week or a month (everyone is different).

It dampens it down but the pain is still there…

Here's my two cents. I tried it for 6 weeks and nothing . Then, I got an extremely bad reaction to Gabapentin.
It does not work for everyone anyway. Keep looking for other solutions is my advice. Wishing you good luck!

Somebody told me they switched from Gabapentin to vitamin B-12. They said it worked far more effectively, and they prefer it. I didn't hear how much B-12 they took. What are your experiences?
