Gabapentin side effects?

I am a regular on the Mayo Board! I don't know what I would do without it! Our doctors don't want to discuss openly the things about illnesses and side effets of drugs and other things. Anyway, my question to all of you is Gabapentin and it's side effects. I have been on it now for 6 months. My doctor raised me from 100mg. to now I am on 400mg. three times a day.
The problem is my tiredness! I happen to be in a friends office yesterday and she was taking some medicine. She said she was taking Gabapentin. I asked why and she said she had, had shingles back when and it still helped with the pain. I know the drug is percribed for many things that is why I take it for my issues.
I told her I had been taking it for about 6 months. She asked if I had been tired all the time, just out of the Blue. OF COURSE I SAID YES! She said it took her a year before she got out of the tiredness.
Let me know if any of you have experienced the same thing. Also let me know at what dosage you may be on? I know this is all confidential!

I wish I could the pain is in the scalp and it only helps for less than an hour. It’s some strange cranial thinking.

I take 100 mg at night when I go to bed. Really helps with my back pain. Puts me right to sleep thus why I don’t take it in the daytime.

Is anyone taking Horizant (Gabapentin Enocarbil) for peripheral neuropathy? If so, do you have side effects?

Gabapentin takes the edge off my pain but it impairs me cognitively so I dont take it on work days.

I was taking Gabapentin for Fibromyalgia and neuropathy. I switched to Lyrica because the Gabapentin did nothing for the Fibromyalgia pain. I was tired all the time, could not drive, and felt like my brain just wasn't working at full capacity. Made a lot of mistakes when on Gabapentin. My husband takes it for neuropathy and it affects his cognitive function. Thank you for sharing.

Never obtain any relief from taking Gabapentin.

I took it for fibromyalgia. Now on lyrica. Without it I want to rip the skin off my legs. It does cause some sleepiness so I take one in the morning and two at bedtime of 125 s If I take much more it causes muscle jerking. When I took a higher dose I stopped drinking coffee because I got tired of my lap getting burned. Lol. Also it builds over time so stopping ment I had to wait for it to build again in my system. To me it really was a wonder drug.

It (100 mg) gave me a good night's sleep, however, the brain fog that came in the morning made me give it up. Damn.

Do you mean gabapentin or Lyrica? Thanks for your reply.
