Gabapentin and Cymbalta

Posted by jeanniem @jeanniem, Mar 15, 2021

I am taking 300mg of Gabapentin twice a day and my neurologist seems to feel pretty strongly that I add 30mg of Cymbalta. Does anyone else take this combo? I really hate adding new medications!

I am so sorry you are having to deal with that. I ended up not starting the duloxetine. I am also currently not taking Gabapentin. I am on Baclofen for the muscle spasms and just dealing with the nerve pain. I found that taking the two together caused too much fatigue and brain fog. No one wants a counselor with brain fog!

I was diagnosed with Guillian-Barre Syndrome 3 months ago. I am fine now, but for the last 4 weeks I’ve had a terrible itch/pain on my back that is worsening. My neurologist prescribed Cymbalta, but I’m afraid of the brain fog that so many people have with it (I had it and memory problems with gabapentin. I need to go back to work but won’t be able if I’m not functioning well. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I just started taking 60 mgs of Cymbalta and 100 mgs of Gabapentin. So far I am walking a little funny but sleep through the night.

Do anyone else take this combo and how long does it take to work?

Hello Tigryes2004

I have a different problem then you but I was prescribed Gabapentin for my problem and it did not work. I was then prescribed Pregabolin and so far it is working. Pain is gone. You might ask your doctor about this medication. It definitely made me sleep. We had to reduce the amount I take because I was sleeping all day.

Would you please tell me how much (mgs) and when you take it? I take 100 mg at night and 25 mg in the morning; but, I still have to take Tramadol to get through the day, which I would rather not be taking!!

My neurologist just added cymbalta to my regimen. If there is something to help mitigate the effects of neuropathy’s detructive forces on the nerve, I’m all in. She is starting me on 20 mg (will titrate dose up as needed) so we are seeing how I tolerate it first.

I am taking Lyrica. From what I’m told Gabapentin and Lyrica are the only real go to medications to help neuropathy pain.

So, if you are suffering, really try it. It’s worth a shot. Because I can’t take the pain I’m in. It’s over the top. So I wish I had Cymbalta sooner.

All I can say is advise your doctor you need serious help and then follow up with action. Thats the only way we are going to help ourselves. This is some serious condition. It can get much worse.

I take a boatload of medication too. I know how vexing it is to need more…when it feels there is no end in site to it…

I myself am recently looking into what may protect mylen sheath in the first place preventing the neuropathy from advancing.
