Has anyone started itching after being on Gabapentin?
Has anyone started itching after being on Gabapentin? I only been on 400 mg/day for 5 weeks but the last three days I started getting some itching. No rash. I don’t see where itching is a side effect. Thank you

Itching can be a sign of an allergic reaction with any drug. Ask your doctor.
Opiate medications are known to cause itching. For me, even on a low dose of opiate drug, I had extreme itching, tore up skin on my arm till it was bloody. Gabapentin is not known to cause itching, but opiates are.
I started Gabapentin at 1800 mgs daily - doubled to 3600 and broke out in an itchy rash...it's been more than a week since I stopped - and still itching. The rash started on my arms then torso - moved to my thighs - and then my neck. I am now on prednisone to try to stop the continued additive spread.
Opiates, especially at higher doses, can cause itching all over the body, along with constipation. High price to pay for some pain relief.
But gabapentin - never heard of problems with itching, but it should be a Google search away from some answers, or insight. Gabapentin has made me feel, I don't know, like fuzzy all over. Hard to explain. I stopped taking it.
YES! I've been itching off and on for a few weeks and then last night it became unbearable. It is very similar to the itching caused by opiates. One minute it's my scalp, the next minute it's my feet, then my ear lobe, then one arm...then both arms. It's worst on my ankles and the tops of my feet. I barely slept at all last night. It kind of feels like you have little hairs poking you under your clothes...like after your mom would give you a haircut. Or if you have a tag on the back of your shirt rubbing/poking your neck...but it's all over your body. I've made myself bleed multiple times. I'm on a very low dose of Gabapentin at night...I'm going to try skipping it tonight and pray that helps. I'd much rather wake up with back pain than this incessant itching. It's driving me crazy! I'm so glad I'm not the only one.
