Forgetfulness on meds

Posted by ddscal1958 @ddscal1958, Oct 28 9:09am

I'm taking Lexapro 30 mg and .5 mg of clonazepam morning and evening. My doctor increased the Lexapro 3 weeks ago as he thinks 20 mg was not an adequate amount after taking it for 20 plus years.
I am becoming forgetful at times and it is frightening me. I wonder if the Lexapro is too much. Please , if anyone else had this problem I would love to know. Thank you so much!

I don't take Anti-depressed into anxiety medications, but I do take anti-seizure medications.
I used to have trouble remembering my medication, but now I use an automated pill dispensing machine which has an alarm on it, and can be set multiple times a day I haven't had any problems.
Take care,
Jake

Did the doctor say why he thought the dose was too low? Was it working? I tend to need lower doses of meds.

I would question the clonapin, despite its low dose. I was on a low dose of Valium daily and lost my short term memory, thankfully after it I stopped it on the recommendation on my neurologist and it cleared my system m p, my memory improved dramatically

After I reread your message, I see that it's very clear what you meant.
I guess after thousands of seizures, hundreds of thousands of seizure pills, and some comas I can't remember what you said from the time I read it to the time I posted. I know what you're up against as far as memory since nearly all seizure medicines cause memory problems. I've taken seizure medicines for 60 years so I guess I'm just used to forgetting so I accept it, if I forget fine if I remember fine. I guess it comes down to what a person needs most. I don't want to have seizures so I take it.
I would think you would be the best judge of whether or not you needed more medication to control your condition though. Remember you don't have to take the extra medicine. my doctor at one time had me taking 18 prescriptions. I stopped all but my seizure medication and I’m no worse off for doing it.
take care,
Jake

He felt the Lexapro was not working and thought he would increase it to see how I did

I think evan though medicine help people's symptoms..thier all bad for us one way or another. Sometimes the side effects are worse than the problem. If i had the insurance to pay for it. I would deffinitly incorporate Holistic health.
