Intermittent pain in my legs from knees down. Unable to stand

Posted by judywalker @judywalker, Mar 22, 2016

for a year I have been experiencing intermittent pain in my legs from the knees down. Have had many tests.....do not have blood clots, do not need knee replacement, do not have arthritis, etc. Main problem aside from pain is that I am unable to stand up easily and legs are stiff when standing too long....legs get weak if I walk too long I have to stop and rest.....what is this? what can I do to help my self. went to a vein specialist ....thought it might be due to poor circulation. was not....although he found three veins leaking blood but the fix has not helped

Hi Judy..i'm so sorry to hear about the leg pain & weakness you are experiencing in your calves. Everyone has posted great suggestions to pursue. I would also add that you see a rheumatogolist -- i had intermittant (relapsing-remitting) pain & weakness in both legs/calves that turned out to be lupus. It took many visits to various orthopedic doctors, neurologists, spine specialists, PAD specialists, pain specialists, etc. & over 3 years to finally get a diagnosis --and eventually some treatment. I only wish one of my doctors had suggested seeing a rheumatologist earlier. . I hope you find an answer and some relief soon
