Foot osteoporosis
The top of my foot has been giving me a lot of pain recently. It is an aching pain and I have trouble walking. I am even having trouble finding shoes that are comfortable enough to wear. Anyone out there having anything similar? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like something other then osteoporosis which is silent till fracture
Thanks for replying. The strange thing is that it is okay some days. 🤷♀️
I'm sorry to hear about your foot pain. My mom has that. It started suddenly in December. Her doctor told her that it's because of her osteoporosis. I'd never heard of it affecting the feet like that before. She's normally very active, but the pain is limiting what she can do.
She found some things that have helped. Aside from getting off of her feet when it's flaring up, she uses ice and biofreeze for the pain. Recently she got new Easy Spirit shoes. They lace up so she can wear them loosely tied. To make them even more comfy, she replaced the insoles. The ones that she got are called Superfeet, and she swears by them. Both were bought off Amazon.

Thank you SO much for replying. You have given me some awesome info, of which I will be following up with.
I have a similar issue with top of foot pain that comes and goes. I am not a doctor, so cannot say whether we might be dealing with stress fractures, but I found a few things helpful. When it acts up, I do a series of foot massages and exercises that I found on youtube. I replaced the orthotics in my running shoes, I sometimes use banded arch supports during my walks and runs. I make sure I always do planks with shoes on. Simple stuff, but I have come to the conclusion that there are ligament issues going on and try not to automatically assume that osteoporosis is to blame. That’s me, again, I am not a medical professional. If it was a constant problem, I would seek the advice of a physical therapist..
You might have a stress fracture. I would encourage you to see a Podiatrist or an Othropedic. I have had several stress fractures in the same foot since I was diagnosed 12 years ago. I now have special insoles in my sneakers and I walk 4-5 miles a day with no problems.
Good luck to you.
Good to know. Thanks for the input. 😊
This is a great site and I am truly grateful for all of the replies. Thank you glojo for your input. Food for thought!!
https://www.solfoot.com/library/foot-condition-by-area-foot-pain-diagram-long-beach-ca.cfm A foot x-ray would settle the bone issue. This chart would be helpful. Lidocaine patches are especially useful on feet because of all the nerves close to the surface, no cure though.
Thank you for replying. I will give the patches a try. Thanks
