Follow up appointment - Primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC)

Posted by lgrengs @lgrengs, Feb 9 2:55pm

I have PBC and had my first appointment in May. Will someone from the Mayo Clinic follow up with me to schedule a yearly appointment? Or is that something I should do? I see a local Gastro, but also want to be seen at Mayo to ensure everything is covered being the PBC is so uncommon.

@lgrengs, I recommend that you ask about your follow up plan on Mayo Clinic's patient portal. Click this link to login or to create an account https://onlineservices.mayoclinic.org/content/staticpatient/showpage/patientonline

Did you set up an account on the patient portal for your initial appointment?

I agree everything I have read says our PBC is rare but everyday I read on these 3 pages FB PBC sites like Life with PBC 💚, PBC Support Group, Life with PBC:An American Liver Foundation Support Group there are always new people who have been diagnosed. Unfortunately I evidentially have had this for years and I’m asymptomatic but was DX PBC and cirrhosis at the same time in 2021. Im glad you have the option to see doctors at Mayo as I’ve heard they don’t take my Medicare Advantage Ins. I’ve met a friend who lives in WY and I am in IL who also has this disease through these sites. We eat healthy and take our
Ursodiol rest when must and exercise, best wishes you are not alone with this💚
