Flare after surgery

Posted by laurelr @laurelr, Aug 8 8:49am

Two weeks after surgery my neck and shoulders suddenly became immobilized.
Doctors agreed it was a pmr flare.
I am back on 5 mg prednisone, for 2weeks. Better after 2 days.

Hi. I just had a temporal artery biopsy for GCA. Came back negative. But. Now I have head pressure, stiff neck, jaw pain, ruemy said not to icrease dose, taking 2400 mg ibuprofen daily, can’t lay down through the night. Trying to get into Neuro. Appt at least 3 month out. I am left with the feeling the biopsy did something as this wasn’t here before. So careful on surgeries. I am on 5 mg prednisone

I had temporal biopsy for suspected GCA. I had it done at Mayo clinic. Day I went in for the biopsy my BP would not drop below 170/100. They finally agreed to do the biopsy on a light anesthesia. I told them to give me a stick to bite on, lets do it. Both sides negative. But I had the worst temple, neck and jaw pain for months. Its been over two years since I moved on from PMR and I still have some tenderness next to my ear. Many on this site have said the testing was simple with no issues. They are tougher than I am.
