Nervous about Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) for colorectal cancer

Posted by mrcortezz @mrcortezz, Feb 9 4:20pm

I just set up a fit test with my doctor. I cant help think about the what if. I will try to stay positive until I get the results. I have lost my Mom, Dad and Wife to cancer. My mom died from rectal cancer. This is why I get nervous.
Peace be with you.

I get these once a year. Pretty straightforward you just put some poop in the mail. They get back to you with the results.

This is a good test which if positive can indicate blood in the stool and possible cancer. I had negative results for over 10 years until January 2022 but in September 2022 I noticed blood in my stools and a colonoscopy confirmed that I had a tumour in the lower colon which was removed in November 2022 followed by 3 months of chemo.
Fingers crossed that your test result is negative. But whatever happens stay positive!
