Has anybody in this group been on the fish oil pill vescepa that’s prescribed by your physician?

My fish oil was actually recommended by my ophthalmologist, but my cardiologist agreed to it!

I once bought a case of canned cod liver from Iceland. It tastes good, like a liver pâté, and I understand the health benefits are very high, particularly Vitamin D. It has been eaten for centuries in the Nordic Countries. I had as a main course or snack.

My ophthalmologist also recommended fish oil supplements for my dry eye and Salzman’s nodules. I asked my pc about it and he said there’s no proven study that it’s beneficial otherwise. So, idk. One would think it would be good for skin and heart. I haven’t done any research on it.

Hi, folks. Just saw this thread.

My understanding, from fairly recent readings, is that, unless there's a specific medical concern or reason for the fish oil (as some here have posted... eg, dry eyes, etc), it was no longer being recommended as a general, healthful supplement "for the masses."

Is the above no longer the case? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
