First Visit with Infectious Disease Doctor
I’m having my first appt with an infectious disease specialist this Thursday at Kaiser, and would love to hear what questions you think I should ask him. I have some that I have already come up with, but would love to hear more experienced views. I am really interested in learning what his expertise level is in dealing with MAC and a positive sample for Aspergillus Fumigatus. Your input will be greatly appreciated.

May be how aspergillus fumigatus affects lungs- it is also a question for my doctor for today.
As far as MAC- what is the worst region and how to keep it stable?
@lilianna Thank you. I already know the worse regions and know what I can do to keep it stable other than meds. I am wondering how to evaluate his expertise in handling the ups and downs of treatment since I know he will recommend that.
@paxmundi
Given your specific concerns I'd ask directly how ups and downs / adverse reactions to meds are handled. We've seen several adaptations ID docs or pulmonologists make when things don't go well with the meds. I'd be hoping to hear suggestions to mitigate symptoms, thoughts about changing the offending med, decreasing frequency of dosing, etc.
Hope you will be seeing a good ID doc. I'm a Kaiser patient in the SF bay area, and saw an ID doc I felt quite comfortable with - though it was just for a consult as I'm not on MAC meds. I did have treatment for aspergillosis.
@leslie51 Thank you for this response, Leslie. This is a helpful line of inquiry.
All the best,
Aida
