First Visit to Mayo Clinic - Digestive Issues

Hi there! I have my first visit to Mayo Clinic on September 5th. I have been diagnosed by my current GI doctor with Celiac, Microcolitis, IBS, and SIBO. I’ve been on a strict gluten free diet for years and have had no relief from symptoms. I’m going to Mayo Clinic to hopefully get some answers on why I’m having such debilitating issues. I was told I need to be at Mayo Clinic in Rochester for 5 days. I got my schedule today and I only have 3 tests over 5 days… and I’m very confused on why I have such a small amount of tests to do. I’m doing Electrocardiogram Testing, a Hydrogen Breath test, and MR Enterography Imaging Exam. Will they schedule more tests while I’m there or is this all I’m doing? I’m super confused on why I need to be there for 5 days if I’m only doing 3 tests. Any insight would be wonderful! Thank you!

Your correct in statement that more tests or appointments may be added before you arrive or after seeing provider or results of initial tests.

If check your portal closer to appointment dates, you may see additional appointments show up.

Is there a doctor appointment scheduled? Are current appointments all on same day?

If additional appointment are scheduled, may need an extra day to do prep for GI appointments.

Most hotels in area are flexible with reservations if you finish up your Mayo appointments early.

These test done in the order given may result in additional tests, scans, etc due to the first test or the second test. They need to find which path to pursue. Explorations can lead to many different paths.
My experience is when they start getting the ducks in the row, you will be going from pillar to post and later appointments will be moved up. Believe me you will be in good hands and have a health care experience like no other. If you get a little lost finding your way around just ask anyone with a name tag and they will help. If you have extra time, explore the underground shops in the subway walk or enjoy the plaza outside or the lobby displays on any of the Gonda or Mayo upper floors.

When you get there you probably will have blood 🩸 work, depending on results more test will be ordered
