Finger Twitching
About 10 years ago, I had a few instances with thumb/finger twitching. Went to doctor and he assured me it was nothing to worry about. Then it went away.
In the last 3 months, it started again. First started in one of the left hand fingers. Then it stopped. Now it moved over to the right hand. It started with middle finger and the one next to it and now it s the right index finger.
The twitching is very minor and does not happen a lot. It seems to happen when sitting or lying down. It has been disrupting sleep as it the twitching occurs when I am trying to relax to fall asleep.
I am a healthy 55 year old retired teacher. I do not have any underlying health issues other than idiopathic pericarditis. I have no other symptoms. No weakness or numbness. I went to the doctor (nurse practitioner) recently. She did not seem concerned but did some blood tests to see if there was electrolyte imbalance. All tests are normal.
I have tried several things to get rid of it. Lots of water, increase walking routine, healthy diet, removing aspartame (diet drinks) to no avail.
I am very scared that this is the beginning stages of Parkinson's Disease. My aunt is suffering from it and I have watched her struggle and slowly take away her life.
I have an appointment with my primary care doctor next Friday to see what can be done. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I am very anxious and depressed about it. Thank you!

Get a referral to a Neurologist! And, if you want to get in asap for assurance and peace of mind, do it now, those appts are hard to get and take awhile. (Maybe some areas are easier/harder than others). I’m no expert, but I do know one thing, most neuro things are wait and see and hard to dx. Good luck. 👍
