Fibular flap surgery

Posted by pageme @pageme, 3 days ago

I had mandiblectomy in Nov, 2023 with fibular flap surgery.
It has been 18 mths & I am still not able to walk on my rt leg without stiffness. Has anyone had this problem? Could it be scar tissue keeping me from walking?

Hi @pageme I was commenting on a discussion from an Ameloblastoma patient and noticed your comment not realizing you were new here. So welcome. Your experience with this rather rare surgery is much appreciated here.
My comments to that patient would likely be suitable for you as well therefore I will link them here rather than repeat. https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/1333218/
Again welcome and thanks for the input. This procedure we had is sure a tough one to explain to “muggles”.

Stiffness could be related to your surgery—I am out 6 months from surgery and have numbness in my foot that is improving over time. It was helpful for me to work with a physical therapist. My surgeons readily made a referral for me.
