Fibromyalgia flare-up

Posted by homeira @homeira, 1 day ago

Hello Everyone,
I've been a fibro sufferer for about 20 years now and would like to share my journey with you. All the medications & CBD oil were beneficial for a short period of a few months. I feel that, with age(63 years old), flare-ups are now more frequent than before. Currently, I'm trialling vitamin B12, CoQ10, Vitamin D, K, and magnesium supplements, and I feel more energized during the day. The body pain is due to inflammation of nerve endings, and I'm still on the search for a holistic cure rather than a chemical one.

Please post if you find one. I'd for one would be grateful.

Hi, I too have had fibromyalgia for little over twenty years with the pain increasing as I age. At least I wonder because I've had hip replacement and rotator cuff surgery both in 2023. My post therapy pain wasn't too bad, but a year out from both operations I'm having alot of pain in both those areas. I haven't seen the surgeons yet and I think I'm concerned they will tell me the operations didn't work. I have developed severe plantar fascitis and Morton's neuroma in left foot. Opposite leg. Both knees are hurting because of my gait changing. I'm constantly in so much pain that I have a hard time discerning between fibromyalgia being worse or everything thing else which I'm sure is part of it. Somedays I want to give up.

Also,my Dr ran a urine screen telling what I needed as far as supplements. I take the same things you take but only 5 weeks in. I haven't seen a change yet. At first I had a little more energy from the B12 injections but now not so much. I think my pain is overriding anything good happening. I'm going to try acupuncture next week for my plantar fasciitis. If you believe in prayer, please pray for me that it will give me some relief. Thank you. God bless you! I will pray for you also.

hipgranny1956, I have had Fibro/CFS for almost 30 years. It worsened with age as arthritis decided to join in! I feel your pain my dear.

I take a lot of supplements & I have to get weekly B12 injections. My body does not absorb folates well as I have Gene Mutation issues with folates.

I soak in the tub with Epsom salt as often as needed. Also, a hot shower helps warm up the muscles.

I get a massage about once every 1-2 months. She is gracious and rubs the Voltaren gel in for me. It helps so much. Pain tenses your up with knots and a massage helps with that and releases toxins.

I use Voltaren gel up to 4 times a day if needed (per my doctor's recommendation) as I cannot take NSAIDS. The absorption of this gel is low and I have had not problems with it. I realize it is an NSAId.

I take prescription Flexeril 5 mg for spasms and Extra strength Tylenol for pain.

I have learned Fibromyalgia is often accompained by Hashitmotos Thyroiditis. I have that and I also have Sublinical Hyperthyroidism.

I use the Bed Buddy Heat packs on Amazon and one of those long back heating pads.

I rest when needed. Naps are wonderful!

If I am not having a good day, I do not answer the phone to chat. I call them back when I am better.

I can no longer fix huge meals for family functions such as Thanksgiving or Christmas as it does a number on my back and legs. The crockpot is a lifesaver!

I also battle plantars fasciitis from time to time. I have found rolling my feet over a bottle of frozen water helps with that, wearing the short support socks on Amazon for P.F., good shoes with arch supports and if you can afford it orthotic inserts made just for you from a podiatrist. I honestly cannot recommend the heel injections. I've had them done twice and two different ways. They are short lived and can damage your heel. There are exercises on Youtube for P.F. I know this is hard to believe, but, when I get injections in my knees for arthritis, it's systemic for me and it goes to my feet and I get relief for a P.F. flare. No flip flops or going barefooted. Our feet thin out as we age and we do not have the padding on the bottoms we use to have.

I have not tried acupunture nor red light therapy, but, I am considering it.

I laugh a lot.

I pray a lot to my Lord as HE is my strength and shield and I read my Bible. Such encouragement.

I hope some of this helps you. Praying for you. Blessings.....

Iam terrified of steroid shots as I have had them in my shoulder and hip but subsequently still had to have both surgeries. Wasn't worth the awful injection pain, and I researched and discovered that they can destroy the cartilage and tissue in the injection sites. It happened in my hip injection that destroyed the cartilage I had left leading to hip replacement! I asked my shoulder surgeon point blank if it was a possibility and he admitted that it can happen! I refuse to go through the pain especially since it's not a cure and no guarantee they will help. I'm hopeful about Acupuncture and I will report my results on these sites. Good luck to all and thank you for your time and encouragement!!

I am taking Shaklee alfalfa for inflammation due to fibromyalgia and I have only had one bad flare up in 6 months and that only lasted 36 hours. It has been a miracle for me. Living in the midsouth where the temps are always changing and the rain has gotten worse along with herniated discs in my back I was miserable. Now with this supplement I’m living a good life. I hope this helps. Just look up Shaklee products online if you’re interested.
