Favorite saying

My wife and I were having a discussion and we came to a mutually satisfying agreement. I was reminded of this saying: “A good understanding is like the ‘whistle’ and the whistle always blows on time.” ( the “whistle” in reference here is the old fashioned factory whistle: the whistle starts the work day, blows for lunch, and blows again to end the work day, and the whistle is always on time)

I remember this from my childhood too! My Mom used to tell me the same thing when another kid said mean things to me! We must be from the same era. 50's and 60's right?
Back when life was simpler, safer and all the bad people and crime were in New York City! At least they told you that.

That was in one of John Wayne's many wonderful westerns that he made in the 50's and 60's that my husband and I watched at least 10 times each. My husband died in 2024. Now I can't watch John Wayne without feeling lonely.

@lacy2 I was born in 1946. You had a very interesting young life moving from the UK to Canada in 1962 at age 18 and changing families! But at least they were both nice families. The only thing I was doing in 1962 was going with my Mom to the Space Needle in Seattle at the Seattle World's Fair. The only favorite saying for that would probably be: The most beautiful sight in the world! The Space Needle was beautiful and 600 feet tall! It still is beautiful to this day 64 years later!

Reminds me of those Mary Englewright calendars where she said,
"Bloom where you are planted."
We were moving at the time & it was meaningful to me & I can truly say now that it turned out to be the best move ever! I have bloomed in a new location!!
