Fatigue after radiation

Hi
Just wondering people's effects after radiation for breast cancer and how long fatigue lasts I just finished 20 sessions and I can't even begin to say how exhausted I am just trying to do normal things.

Yes! I finished 20 sessions on April 1st (16 plus 4 boosts). I've been exhausted since the first week I started. I woke up this morning feeling almost normal - I was ready to meet the day. I was so happy, like a glimmer of hope. But then went to PT, did some errands and now I'm done for the day and it's not even noon lol. I'm just going slow and doing the bare minimum trusting my energy will come back at some point.

I finished on the first, so that would be 8 days.

We’re are radiation sisters! How are you doing today?

Hi
Lol, yes we are. I got out and did what I had to do and as usual by 3:00 I feel wiped out so I'm just sitting. Do you have issues at all with your ribs? I told my oncologist today that my ribs feel really sore like somebody hit me hard and he said that can happen from the radiation

The fatigue was unlike anything I’d experienced before. Just lifting my arm seemed to be exhausting. It’s difficult, I know, but it will pass and you will regain your normal strength. Good luck!

Me too, after mastectomy, chemo and radiation at 74. Remember a beach holiday with my family when I didn't have the energy to leave our apartment. Just sat and looked at the waves. Fatigue and hence no exercise didn't do much for my bone density, and anastrozole isn't exactly helpful - so am having to work pretty hard to get back to pre chemo bone density readings.

I began taking Anastrozole on Feb. 1 (of 2022) at a time when I was also fighting a seroma (infection) with 500 mg. of Cephalexan taken every 4 hours for weeks. Then, I went through 33 radiation sessions. By the time I began the radiation I had been on the Anastrozole for 4 months. Talk about tired! Yikes.

Have mentioned it a few times in previous posts in the Bone Health and Osteoporosis thread where there has been a discussion. It's a variant of the high intensity Onero exercise program developed here in Brisbane Australia. It has to be supervised by a fully trained and accredited physiotherapist. It really is high I intensity. When I started 6 months ago, I was lifting 8K kettlebells. (We talk in kilos here.) Now 24. And 50K on the leg press. I do other stuff as well, but those are probably the most important in trying to ward off hip fracture. I always do those.
