Fasting to relieve or eliminate gastro problems?

Has anyone tried fasting to relieve or eliminate gastro problems? If so, how long did you do it for and what was the outcome? How did you feel?

I really like Dr. Sten Ekberg's videos very easy to understand and informative.

@mmilich can I ask when you avoid eating when you do a fast? Do you eat breakfast and then stop eating for 18 hours? I am only 32 years old, so I feel like I can really explore my options here and do some serious fasting/risk taking. I have had stress induced stomach ulcers and reflux since 2010 because of my anxiety problems. Of course, this leads into the gut-brain connection. I do understand that a healthy gut creates a healthy brain so I am trying to do all I can to create a safe environment for my gut (probiotics, fasting, eating vegetables)

@hsroka15 You can ask me anything you want. You can also contact me through FB or email. How great you are taking charge of your health at such a young age. I don't know if you have been prescribed anything for your digestion issues, but beware. Certain phamaceuticals such as prilosec can delete bone mass. They don't tell you that when they prescribe the medication. I wish I had known sooner. As far as fasting, I skip breakfast and usually don't eat till after 12 noon. I then eat until four o'clock or sometimes six o'clock. FYI, I have plenty of energy i the morning and I exercise before I break my fast. I swim and do yoga. Sometimes both back to back before I eat. I'm never hungry in the morning and I have a very vigorous work out. I do break my fast at twelve usually with a salad. Then a fat and protein.

I am not under a Doc's care for my digestion, but have figured out some things on my own. Eating in a compressed window of time definitely helps my sleep. (after taking my morning meds with lemon water), I eat a decent breakfast (eggs, organic oatmeal, bacon!) at around 10, then a dinner around 2:00-3:00. Then, I might have an orange or apple if I get ravenous later. But no more meals. That gives me a nice "fast" overnight, not too strict; anywhere from 13-16 hrs. I'm 75. Also, a brisk walk after eating is beneficial. Blessings to you all.

All my life I have never eaten breakfast the one exception when I'm on a road trip and I love a diner breakfast! I eat a "snacky lunch" around noon to 1 PM and dinner at 6 and a dessert at 9 PM and then nothing till noon the next day. When I was younger I only ate one meal a day not even snacks. Even now if I am super busy outside the home I won't eat anything till dinner. Did any of that help my stomach I don't know but I can say it never had any detrimental effects and I've never had a weight problem.
