Family member with advanced gastric cancer

Asking if anyone knows how I can help a family member who is in late stage (gastric) cancer deal with fluid buildup who’s constantly bringing up thick hard to clear spit/flem. Have a medication that is supposed to help but wondering if there’s anything more I can do to help.
