Eye pain vs sinuses
Hello friends, my boyfriend has a miserable sinus grunting and snorting every day every night it goes on all the time he’s a water person doesn’t matter what he does it may start later in the evening he has a deviated septum, and wondering if the hot air in the mugginess of Florida can effect this? He has been to several doctors and all they wanna do is give him snorting medicine which is generally common, Flonase I believe, but it hasn’t helped him at all he loves diving and fishing and swimming but nothing takes away the grunting and snorting! It’s embarrassing for him and he is so over it he doesn’t know what to do, should he go to Mayo clinic, does anyone have any answers out there?

Hi @surfing and welcome, I am originally from Florida and I can attest that the humidity can do crazy things to your body.
Some information you might like to read: Deviated septum: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/deviated-septum/symptoms-causes/syc-20351710
Can I ask, when he is breathing does he flare his nostrils, and does the grunting/snorting ever sound like wheezing? Also, where does the eye pain come in?
I had the same problems to include a deviated septum. Went to doctor after doctor after doctor - had Alahist, Flonase, Singulair- nothing helped. First get the deviated septum fixed. Easy surgery....then I went to an ENT and he told me that I have acid that backs up from my stomach to my throat. He gave me prescription Pepcid (40 mg) to take 30 min before bed. IT WORKED......no more constantly trying to clear my throat, no more nasal noises. I am know you can get Pepcid over the counter - you may need to take more than the box says. Hope this helps!
hi thank you, no his nostrals dont flare he doesnt wheez
but the right eye has pain, it seems every night after looking at the smart tv, i know the light coming from the 58 inch tv, has alot to do with vision and light sensitivity, i have looked into the tv sheilds you can buy, to keep blue light down. His eye pain starts when his sinues go off, i know they must be connected. He had a bi focal lens put in 2 years ago the PAN OPTIC lens, whick I feel was too strong for his eye ! he should of never opted for it, the doctor told him he would never need glasses. well, yeah but he's going thru hell with it. The surgeon said, everything is normal, in tact, he has seen 4 eye doctors since, BASCOM PALMER, MELBOURNE, SEBASTIAN, VIERA ,list goes on !!
Thank you this sounds the best i have heard i will share with him !!!!!
Has your husband ever considered an IOL exchange? Is this something any of the doctors suggested?
No, but since i wrote in for support, he went to anENT, trained in surgery for deviated, she did cat scan, endoscopy of nasal, she found blockedge, and inflammed right side, he now has decided to do the procedure. I pray it helps him.
Yes! I am so grateful he is going to go forward with this procedure. He won't regret it! Please keep us posted.
Fantastic, Sunny.
