Extremely itchy red bumpy rash on chest and legs

Posted by thayerl @thayerl, Aug 13 2:20pm

Hello,

My dad has had an extremely itchy red bumpy rash on his body for that dermatologists don’t know the cause or treatment for. He does have neuropathy in his feet and when I was researching I saw that sometimes rashes can have a relation to problems with nerves. If anyone has any insight or recommendations that would be greatly appreciated! This has been going on for a year and he is in discomfort with the constant itching.

Have you seen his main doctor. I think they will be able to help you.
I am sure your Dad is have great pain. I hope you get an answer soon.
Has he changed his meds, did he get a refill with a different brand of med. Also, soap, shampoo, lotions, laundry soap, softener, anything that is touching his body. Read labels if they say new and improved or anything like that I cringe because what did they do to the item I liked.
Wishing the both of you the best.

Has he been tested for Grover’s Disease?

Did the dermatologist do a skin biopsy or order any
blood testing. Is he living in his own home.?

As suggested get tested for Allergic Contact Dermatitis, ACD (5 Day Extended Patch Test needed) and Grover's Disease, GD. Google these diseases which I have/had but because of my diligence am free of all symptom's now for years. GD is tricky but if you suspect it after study ask me and I'll tell you of an at home heavy metal detox using fresh cilantro that helps about 40% of us. There is a biopsy test for GD, yet the papuale must be at an initial active stage to verify. For ACD you will need a dermatologist or allergist to administer the 5 Day Extended Patch Test. Medicare pays for this expensive 5 Day Patch Test.
For nerve issues the doctor can give a Kenalog 40 cortico steroid shot which helped some for about 6-8 months but then the internal, under the skin misery would kick in. It's recommended to only get this shot annual because of liver or kidney damage. I would wait the year out with the electric shocks intensifying. I dealt with this for about 3-4 years and then read The Yeast Connection Handbook by William Crook, Md. I followed his detox and maintenance for 1 year, exactly- no cheating. Fantastic results, no more nerve issues and no more steroid shots. After a year began a normal diet, even eating fruit at least 3 times daily but NO PROCESSED SUGAR EVER FOR LIFE.
Go to dermnetnz.org/images to look at their photographic library of rashes. Most helpful and helped me self diagnose another form of eczema I had the doctors had misdiagnosed and were treating incorrectly.
If I had not put the work in self educating myself I would still be suffering for ACD, GD, mystery nerve condition and Perioral Eczema ( which I self diagnosed).

Hello everyone!

Thank you all so much for your comments, advice, and kind words. During my research Grover’s Disease never popped up as a possible diagnosis but now I’m relatively sure this has to be what he is dealing with. So thank you for suggesting this. Will have the dermatologist test for it as I don’t think they already have. Hoping he can find some relief from this itching!
