Extreme fatigue

Posted by tealeaf @tealeaf, Sep 24, 2023

I am in my fifties and had TKR once on left now on my Right knee.
The first procedure I didn’t have much difficulty. This one, however pain more pain. and I’m 4 months out now it’s trading pain for fatigue.
I do a few things and I’m absolutely drained. I get frustrated with myself and cry because I don’t understand I should not be like this. I have work a job etc and I’m struggling.

My question is? Is it normal to have this at 4 months out? I can understand 2 weeks after surgery having this, but months later?

Thank you to any and all responses.
Bible says : in a multitude of counselors There is wisdom.

I was extremely active & fit before my TKR, & my orthopedist told me I would have a quick recovery. I did NOT! I’m nearly 8 months out, and still have lightheadedness, significant fatigue, and a lot of stiffness in my TKR. (I was so fatigued and ill after surgery, that I had many tests done, including brain, scans, etc., and all were normal. I had spinal anesthetic, but I know general anesthetic can cause a longer period of fatigue.) However, things are now slowly improving, and I urge you to be patient, though it is very difficult. Be certain there are no medical reasons for your fatigue, (anemia, etc.), & try & stay as active as you can as you recover. I think joint replacements are a very difficult surgery, and everyone responds differently. Most problems resolve, and if they don’t, you may need to seek a consult.
