Extreme bloating with miralax 1-1/2 years after sigmoidectomy

I had a sigmoidectomy with anastamosis 16 months ago secondary to a thickening in the sigmoid colon due to adhesion from prior surgery. I still have not been able to resume relatively normal bm's. Fluctuate between taking miralax and nothing. I drink over 64 ounces of water daily, eat fiber and exercise. I had normal bm's for about 2 weeks, then ate macaroni and cheese (small amount). That created a cascade of issues! I was constipated, took miralax daily, one capful at night, then tapered off to 1/2 capful every other evening over the course of the past three weeks. I am so grossly bloated and it is extremely uncomfortable. Not sure what to do at this point. I've tried multiple variations in diet but still seem to have this issue. Has anyone else experienced this with miralax? I've stopped taking it because the bloating is unbearable.

Reading all of these comments is very helpful. I had a small bowel obstruction operation (from adhesions) two years ago and so far so good. However, I do have bloating and cramping. I am very careful with constipation, I take one Senna every night and a capful of Miralax every night. Prunes also work plus Metamucil if I get constipated. The bloating is very frustrating. I am wondering if I should maybe take a half capful of Miralax every night instead of a full one. It is almost impossible to get an appointment with a gastroenterologist and I have not found them that helpful in the past. I was also told that it could be diastasis recti (look it up!) but I exercise a lot and eat small. I would do anything to get rid of this bulge in my abdomen!

No, I really don't think you would. I have to wear an adult diaper and can't get 20 feet from the bathroom and still don't make it sometimes which makes a terrible mess! I can't go anywhere or do anything. I have spend most of my life constipated and at least I could go outside or to the grocery store. I know constipation is uncomfortable but constant explosive diarrhea is much worse! I can't eat and am so weak I can barely get out of bed to get to the bathroom! I do wish you better health though and the best of luck!
