Excessive sweating on face and neck
Hi, so I have scleroderma, lupus, underactive thyroid, osteo and rheumatoid arthritis, and work as a community nurse. I am on 50mg predisolone, 100mcg thyroxine, 150mg zoloft. I am 57, and had a total hysterectomy 18 years ago for cervical cancer. I am finding that randomly my face and neck starts running with huge drops of sweat so I have to wear sweat bands and bandanas to stop me sweating all over my clients and work spaces. My doctor just brushes it off. Any ideas?

Hello @terena, Welcome to Connect. Sorry to hear that you doctor just brushes the sweating off. I found some information on a condition called craniofacial hyperhidrosis that sounds similar to your symptoms.
"Excessive sweating -- If you sweat excessively from your head and face, in particular, you may have a condition known as craniofacial hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis means sweating more than is necessary to maintain a normal body temperature. It can range in severity from dampness to dripping."

There is also a list of medications that can cause the condition - Drugs/Medications Known to Cause Hyperhidrosis:

Have you thought about getting a second opinion from a dermatologist?
Thankyou so much for that information John. I went through the list of meds that can cause my problem and found that all three of them are on the list so will definitely be seeking a review of my medication from a doctor who will listen. Thankyou soo much!
