This article is an excellent description of what it's like to live with chronic pain and current research and potential treatments. I would welcome thoughts and comments.

The phase 3 study for chronic pain is in limbo because of everything that's happening here. I think the phase 2 was inconclusive because of poor study design....hopefully they will be able to move to phase 3. As of now this should be approved for acute pain, but doctors are able to prescribe any available prescription off-label. Things are in limbo here so it may be approved but the FDA is prohibited from all communication so we won't know. I absolutely am going to try it as soon as it's available....We've reviewed all the research and it looks very promising. After I do I will post here about my experience and maybe you can make a plan. I believe medicare will have to cover it because of this. https://www.nopainpact.com i think this will be a game changer and if it is you'll figure something out.

@kdks99 I have a feeling there will not be any clinical trials in Canada before they are done in the States, but I don’t know if the company doing the clinical trials would accept Canadians for their trials in the States …

I can't read the article but I am interested in the response of people who have read it. I hope some day someone will come up with health care management without drugs. Surely our ancestors also had chronic pain and must have found some way to deal with it.

I have been in chronic pain for 25 years. I refused to have any stimulator or pumps implanted into my body. I worked with an Osteopathic doctor to keep my body in alignment, did sympathetic blocks (which did not work), physical therapy and took medications. I finally started to get my life back after I went to a functional medicine clinic. My first visit was a full hour and they asked questions and wanted to know as much about me as they could. We found I had NO hormones, my adrenal glands were not working, my vitamins and minerals were all screwed up. With the help of my CNP I stopped eating gluten, dairy, no processed foods and ate organic foods. We replaced the hormones and everything else that was depleted. I work full time again. I can say I only take 4 pain pills a day now and feel better everyday. I am a firm believer the reason our country is SO SICK is from all the chemicals that we eat. Our doctors stopped finding out what is broken before they put a bandaid ( prescription) on it. God help us all!!

may exact feeling drs don't want well apparently hrt is logical there are safe dosages for over 65s. it's a nightmare trying to get the help you know you need to feel better. i have asked so many drs for help with this. i can pay $350 for an hr. and possibly prescriptions costing a lot of money that insurance won't pay for. i don't know what more to do. order them from mexico? the shipping alone is $85

I am so glad you've found some relief. I agree that nutrition and avoiding contaminants is important for everyone. I was very athletic and beat my body up for most of my life. I trained for ultra marathons, etc so my issues are structural and require additional solutions...not that I've found any. I am very interested in suzetrigine because it is THE first non-addictive new pain medicine to come down the pike in 20 years. The side effect profile is actually better than placebo. I will try it knowing that it is new and therefore there is certainly risk. I am providing the phase 3 clinical trial for anyone who is interested. I was reading it is for post-surgical instead of opioids, though, am i misreading that? If so, I had surgery in 2009. Do you think that would still qualify? (I am joking, of course.) maybe it was only that medicare would pay for it i it were post surgical

ok...So here's what I know and what I think is true. This drug was FDA fast tracked. The results of the phase 3 clinical trial for acute pain were very good. It was on track to be approved on 1/30/25 but due to an executive order regarding FDA communications it is not clear if the FDA will be allowed to release the approval or not.

Vertex completed a phase 2 study and the results were inconclusive due to poor study design. After reviewing the results it is my opinion if a better designed phase 3 is approved the results will be similar to the study for acute pain. This is the first new non-opioid pain medicine in 20 years.

Once it is approved I plan on insisting my doctor writes an off label script so I can try it even though my pain, like your's is chronic. The side effect profile is excellent..i.e. there were actually MORE side effects in the placebo arm of the study... doesn't get better than that.

That being said, there is no information on the side effects for chronic pain, which would require long term use but after reviewing the research i will take a chance.

I am not sure about how the medicare coverage will work, but once it is approved I will look into it and share with you here. I think they may have to pay for it if your doctor writes a script off label or not.

This has the potential for being a game changer so I think we need to educate our doctors and doing our own research.
