Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?

Good evening @kolika, Although I have not discussed this issue with my endocrinologist, I would think that once my scans are stable and I have not had any further side effects, we will probably explore options. I am already 80 so it can't be too long.

I know that some folks are talking about going back to Eventy for another "bone growth episode". And I also know that more research is being done to support the continued introduction of new products.

I will want to be assured that there are no risks of fractures, as have been reported by those who have been on Prollia.

That's a very good question though and one I will be thinking about. My mother died as a result of a fracture.

How do I find your separate post?

I took Forteo for approximately a year and a half ( I had to stop for several months at the request of the surgeon who operated on a broken elbow. I now don't believe I should have stopped. I did go back, but the result was probably altered by the time lost. I just completed a year of Evenity and now I don't know what to do. My rhumatologist wants me to go to Prolia, but I have heard mixed reports about Prolia. I would love to have more information. Marilynn at mbglad00@gmail.com

I have two problems with Prolia. First, if I miss or delay a dose, there is a very high risk of fracture, since the medication wears off quickly and then bones quickly lose density. I am in reasonably good health, but there have been times in my life -- for medical or other reasons -- when I might not have been able to get a Prolia shot on time. That issue is more likely to arise as I get older.
Second, Prolia interferes with immune system response.
For me, both those are deal breakers.
In a week or two I will post my results from taking Evenity for more than one year. It will be in the Evenity discussion chain.

I feel the same about Mayo Clinic! I would love to GET care that I’m not properly receiving!! Just can’t afford it and they don’t take my insurance. So sad to me!

After discussing with my long term physician and the oral surgeon, the decision is based on the person's history/health, and what needs to be done. It is ultimately your decision if the oral surgeon agrees that work needs to be done. The warnings on the meds need to be considered, however it doesn't mean that the bad things are going to happen to you. Evenity is a bone producer, but the oral surgeon told me that it does have the "Bis" drugs in it like the other osteo drugs. For me, I had some erosion of jaw joint when I had a broken jaw years ago, so it could happen to me anyway without the drug. Although, I have had no problem in 30 years. I chose to go ahead with the surgery and know what to expect if it goes poorly. I want to be able to stand for over five mins. at a time again. I have become disabled at 69 due to the standing issue.
