Evenity and Loss of Height
I have had ten months of Evenity shots. I have lost a lot of height, haven't got the measurement from PCP yet. I have kept up my calcium intake and have been walking every day. Is it possible to have hypocalcemia from the Evenity even with at least 1200 mg. of calcium per day? My supplements also meet the requirements for Vitamin D. I probably am not eating enough protein. My endocrinologist recommends 50 grams per day.

How much height have you lost? I’ve had four known vertebral fractures in less than 10 years and have lost an inch lifetime height. You should speak to a doc to assess your height loss and the reasons behind the loss.
I ask the clinician every time I have a doc visit how I measure up, so to speak 😉. That keeps me apprised if there would be a sudden change which might indicate a silent VF.
One other note: Although we need calcium and vitamin D, we need to be aware of how much dietary calcium we are consuming - my doc enlightened me (stats show we get about 50% of our daily need from milk, yogurt…) that more is not necessarily better.
Recently, through more testing, it was discovered that I have hypercalciuria which means my body doesn’t absorb calcium correctly, so more was not helping me and may be an answer to the “why” - time will tell.
Managing OP comes with special challenges for sure and progress can be very slow.
Best wishes to you as you navigate the high seas - there are some very knowledgeable members here - this forum may be your compass.
Happy Sunday, all! Cheers!

As a dietitian, I have been keeping track of my calcium intake. A lot of the calcium and Vitamin D is from milk, yogurt and cheese. I need to make an appointment before my next shot to be measured and have my calcium level checked. I didn't realize there were silent VF's. Thank you for the information. Hope all goes well as you continue this journey.
