njhornung, accepting your point, I might suggest that the bruising and bleeding from injections would go away when the injections stopped and may have had more to do with a bleeding disorder. Lilac may not have regained her hair, as she thought the long term use had caused hair loss.
I didn't member this thread. You have a wonderful memory.

With my first shot the back pain and burning in my back was relentless, I couldn’t sit lay down comfortably nor sleep. I suffered considerably. I would get in a hot tub to try and alleviate the pain and nothing worked. I am steeling myself for my second shot however I only had about three days where I could rest but even then it still hurts. I am going to force myself. My Dr. is away on family leave and I feel lost.

@tiggins can you do Forteo or Tymlos instead?

Anyone that had side effects from Evenity, when you stopped taking it, did the side effects go away? My 12th and last shot is scheduled for mid May and I'm hoping my back pain/burning/tingling goes away.

I know it's been several months since this post, but I was wondering how you are doing and if your Evenity side effects went away or got better? Also, what drug did you start taking after Evenity?

I had my first shot of evenity in October 2024. In about a week I started to develop an itching rash, not too bad on my torso. I was hoping it would get better and had my second injection which supercharge my initial allergic reaction. Very bad, needed steroids and sill 2 months after my second shot have some itching. My warning to others is if you get a systemic allergic reaction that is beyond the injection site, consider stopping it does not get better only worse

Yes, my side effects diminished but it took a bit. I tried fosamax but only took 2 doses (2 weeks) because I ended up with horrible diarrhea. Started forteo but after 4 months my insurance wanted to switch me to tymlos (cost). Unfortunately I got bad muscle spasms in my back, so the doctor sent an appeal to the insurance and I'm back on forteo. Quite a roller coaster! Thanks for asking!

I started Evenity 6 months ago and have a seventh injection in a week. I have had low bone mineral density since my mid 50’s and managed it well on and off fosamax until I had a mild L4 spinal fracture and I was given Evenity. I walk 3 to 4 miles a day at high altitude. A month ago I noticed 3 small lumps under the skin along a line one my inner calf starting to the inside of my knee cap going down the calf to the shin about 3 inches. Like Lima beans. They have gotten flatter and firmer and a bit bigger. I am traveling and wondering if others have experienced something like this. They don’t hurt, no impact on mobility, . Doc not too concerned yet, pt things connective tissue remodeling? Both knees have felt odd since taking evenity, shins too

Hello @marthal,

I combined your discussion with an existing discussion titled:

"Evenity Side Effects"

Here many members have discussed the various side-effects they have concerns about or have experienced while on Evenity and may have an experience similar to share with you.

It is good that you have kept your provider in the loop and that they are responsive to your concerns. Now that a bit of time has passed, how are you currently doing? Have the bumps subsided or have they got any worse?

On the 1st injection, I didn't quite notice a full strength burning, more like subtle. The burning progressed into 2nd to 4th injection. 4rd to 7th injection adverse reaction peaked. Lasted each injection up to 7 to 10 days, which included: joint pain, stiffness, achiness, some burning like sensation, poor sleep. Irritable. Very dark circles under my eyes! Was planning to stop Evenity after 7th injection. I had enough!!! Then I connected with this website and reread the Evenity medication insert. Found out that I was at "peak" adverse reaction ( strongest side effect known). I met my endocrinologist, she concurred with the "peak period reaction" and thought there may be a subtle settling or plateau (my word usage) where the side effects subsides a bit and not as long in duration. So I decided to carry on.... 8th injection side effects WERE less severe and not as long But two days from now, the 9th injection, I'll see what happens. This is a bone building drug!! Some change has to occur to our weak bones!! But certainly not life threatening.
I am determined to complete all 12 injections. I have come this far.... and know the journey is not easy with other future drugs ...and ... osteoporosis is unique to the individual ...but all I have is to go by is FDA? AMGEN RESEARCH, DATA......my DEXA SCAN SCORE...nutrition and weight bearing exercises (last two very important) NO guarantees.. I am not perfect, I drink coffee, some wine. I have osteoarthritis, R hip other age related common issues.. So many variables... Just going to live my short , sweet life and will eventually give up what I mentioned as my vices for my best health outcomes. Thank you all for your time in reading this comment. Best of luck.

I came across your comment when searching for any remarks about dark under eye circles. I had my 3rd month of injections yesterday and woke up today with severe dark circles under my eyes & so weird!! Like you I need to stick with it but hoping it is temporary. How was your 9th round of injections? Have you noticed any improvement.
I also have a bad reaction after my first round (burning, pins and needles rash) the evening of my injections and into the next day. 2 weeks later I had a similar episode out of the blue. Since then I take a Benadryl before and after my injections and knock wood, it has helped (I also get my shots in my stomach rather than arms).

Dissolvable Zyrtec helped me. It starts to work very quickly and was recommended by an allergist in addition to my regular Allegra dosage.
