Chemo for esophagus cancer: Any advice on things I should or not do?
I was recently diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma of the esophagus with her2 “positive”. I’ve been on one chemo pill and one infusion. The pills gave me ulcers in my colon along with every other side effect and I ended up in the ICU for 2 nights- 7 night hospital stay. Since then they haven’t started me on the chemo pills again (they said I need a break to heal) so I’m only on the infusion. My follow up pet scan is wed and I’m scared that only being on the one infusion just wasn’t enough. I’m trying to stay positive. Anyone have any advice as far as extra supplements or things I should or shouldn’t do. As of now I’m walking, take curcumin, vit d, acupuncture, cbd oil, that’s really it. Any positive info would be appreciated.

Experiment with milk in different amounts. I find when I consume ice cream ( especially soft serve ) or milk over 4 oz. it is bothersome. I eat alot of eggs & cheese, legumes as they are excellent sources of protein.
I wish you luck in your endeavors.
Thank you Thank you.......Can you let me know what is a good low acid diet? I have looked up things but was not sure about it.
rexsan, I was diagosed with Barrett's Esophagus in 2018 after I had internal bleeding from my small intestine. I was told to go on protonix PPI and eat low acid diet from now on. I did the diet very strictly and on my last EGD in 2020, my Barrett's esophagus was no where to be seen. I hope it doesn't come back and that's why I keep to my strict diet. Good luck with your diet and keep taking the PPI.
I do have Barrett's, I have stage four Cancer I Guess, they said it was a 4 but reduced to 3 because it hadn't spread, well it did spread, no surgery! It went into my L3 Vertebrae! I NEVER have any indigestion, 28 radiations & 6 Chemo, the tumor is gone, however 80% chance of returning! I'm on KeyTruda every 3 weeks & another flavor every 2 weeks for the bones! My biggest issue is I have an Arthritic hip & this stuff attacked it to the point I can't walk without cane or crutches! They put me thru Prednisone pills but they did nothing ! iBUPROPINE
Biopsy shows Barrett’s Esophagus. This is a change in the normal lining of the esophagus that has a precancerous potential. NO cancer was identified. Patients with this change should undergo periodic surveillance to assess for progression to more advanced stages.
The polyp was adenoma- precancerous but no cancer in it. The doctor said this.
Rexsan, do you have Barrett’s esophagus? Or are you controlling acid reflux in order to reduce your risk of developing Barrett’s?
Think of you and Michael. Yes, things have been moving fast. While it’s a lot to take in, I’m sure you appreciate the speediness with which he is getting diagnosed and treated. I will be thinking of you as treatment starts this week.
I am having take Pantoprazole 30 minutes for a meal. 1 Daily. Does this help with Barret's Esophagus?
Praying for you!
What seemed to knock out my Tumor ( So big I could only swallow liquid!) was Radiation! I'm stage four, Radiation all but eliminated the tumor! 28 radiations, 5 chemo! Good Luck!
