Epidural spine injections
I am scheduled for a lumbar epidural steroid injection tomorrow. Can I get opinions from anyone who has experienced this treatment.

They have worked well for me. Three total over 3 years. I have lumbar stenosis and spondylolisthesis. My husband had terrible sciatica. 1st one no change in pain. Second one ended the sciatica.....4 years no reoccurrence. The procedure was simple not painful. Just the prick from local then some pressure. I hope it works for you.

1 ReactionI've had a number of them [2 recently] in various spots. They can feel uncomfortable during, but not much after.
Unfortunately none have helped.

I had 2 epidurals during covid a few months apart and unfortunately not much pain reduction. Went on pain meds and physio. If you like to swim that's the best exercise for sciatica.

1 Reaction@bajjerfan Your doc isn’t hitting the “sweet spot” . Some doctors are better than others. Been getting them for 40 years.

2 ReactionsUCSF does them 3D guided - they are able to see better where it is going and are able to work around the bone spurs. I assume all pain docs know about this?
Works better than the regular epidural for me that is x-ray guided only. Then the “sweet spot” conchgirl mentioned is better able to be reached, is my experience. One worked better than the other, but the two with the CT both worked much, much better than the x-ray guided one. Good luck!

My friend who is a patient of this doc said the only epidural relief he has gotten from any doc was from this doc so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt about placement which this last time wasn't in the spinal area. My guess is that the areas he targeted aren't the source/cause of the pain.
