Entire digestive system has changed

Posted by csmithkaylor @csmithkaylor, Dec 3, 2023

I had mild respiratory Covid for five days before it migrated to my gastrointestinal system and stayed there for 2 months. Diarrhea from hell and vomiting ( I hadn’t vomited in 35 years). Since recovery started, constipation now for over a month. I can no longer eat beef (causes severe stomach pain and stops digestion). Chocolate also makes me sick. I’ve lost 20 pounds, which is nice but difficult to enjoy as also suffering from headaches and exhaustion. Has anyone else experienced this?

I’ve been diagnosed with post Covid syndrome, but am not sure which of my symptoms are that or due to something else. I’ve been all over the place.

It sounds like you’re going through a lot too. Just curious, do you have acid reflux? I got it suddenly. Only symptom was waking up to a burning throat. I had constipation. Now, I’m doing much better and constipation is gone. Of course, I also got noticed there is lead in my water system, so……not sure what is really the culprit until more blood and water tests are conducted.

I hope you can find some answers and help for your condition.

I had ibs- constipation for months. I went to a few sessions of pelvic floor therapy and it really helped. I take 2 metamucil pills per day, and I am regular.
The gastroenterologist wanted me to take 10-15 doses of metamucil per day! 2 works for me. It is such a relief to be able to go to the bathroom.
I also had a colonoscopy- but all they found were precancerous polyps. Now I will have a colonoscopy every 3 yrs instead of 5. A colonoscopy is much better than colon cancer.

I’m currently experiencing severe constipation. I take a glass if Metamucil and a glass of Miralax, but they haven’t worked the last 2 days. My gastroenterologist prescribed me a med, that worked one day then stopped. I’m very frustrated. The day the pils worked was so promising. I can’t figure it out unless it’s stress.

How does pelvic floor training help?

It strengthens the pelvic floor muscles. "Your pelvic floor muscles support organs in your pelvis, like your bladder, bowel and vagina. Your pelvic floor muscles hold your organs in place while also assisting with bodily functions like peeing, pooping and sex." Source: MyClevelandClinic.org

I'm starting to do those using a Mayo Clinic online video. Will be interesting to see the results.

You might want to try Magnesium, taking it according to the directions on the bottle.

I'm considered a 'new' member of this discussion board and am not yet allowed to post links. What I did was a Google search using "mayo clinic pelvic floor exercises". That brings up a couple of short videos to use. Hopefully this is helpful.
