Endometriosis at 20yr?

Posted by kellyb7 @kellyb7, 5 days ago

Since I was young I’ve had bad periods. Started it at 9 and the pain progressively got worse with each cycle to the point I was hallucinating, couldn’t walk/talk/think, back pain horrible, ran fevers. My mom would give me Vicodin, codeine, to try and relieve it but did little. Got on birth control at 15 and skipped placebos, resulting in no period. No Doctors wouldn’t give any answer besides it’s normal for young women and next time I have a cycle it won’t hurt as much. Ending up breakthrough bleeding, pain was just as bad as before the BC. I then increase my BC dose but still struggling with constant “soreness”. Saw a new OB who is going to do an ultrasound sound for Endo & maybe laparoscopy depending but I have to stop my BC first. I’m nervous and don’t know what to expect. Is this relatable to anyone? I have constant side flank pain could it be related? No doc has found the reason for it. I have Lupus, Raynaud’s, Acquired Platelet dysfunction. Do these contribute? I’m tired of dealing with this. Will I be able to have kids?

laparoscopy might help to confirm endometriosis. Suggest finding a dr. Who specializes in endo. My daughter had similar sx. 20+ yrs ago - did find small amt of endo but continue having progressive pain. Two years ago (after many drs).. we have a diagnosis of Ehler Danlos. Don’t give up… 💌

In case you aren't familiar with Lupron here is the description from Mayo Clinic. I've heard of Lupron used with prostate cancer because the medication suppresses testosterone but also estrogen. According to Mayo Clinic, Lupron is also prescribed for pain due to endometriosis.

Mayo Clinic: Leuprolide (Brand name Lupron):
