Elevated PTH after Reclast

Posted by mjwg @mjwg, Apr 13 3:11pm

I had a reclast infusion in Feburary and PTH checked in March (200). Again last week (192). Has anyone had elevated PTH after taking Reclast?

I found this when I did a quick on-line search: "Reclast (zoledronic acid) can raise parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels as a response to its anti-resorptive effects in patients being treated for osteoporosis. This elevation in PTH is not considered a disease phenomenon but rather a reaction to the medication."

There were several articles listed when I did my search, so it might be something you could investigate on-line.
