EGFR went from 55 to 41 in a month, how?
In march of this year my body blew up with 40lbs of water out of nowhere, I went to the hospital and was in there for a week before discharge, found out my immune system was attacking my kidneys and I got stage 3b kidney disease. I’ve lost all the water weight in may, my protein levels in my urine were 4555, in August now they dropped to 2500, at the time my egfr was 37, two months later it went to 43.5, then in July went to 55, a month later now in Aug it dropped to 41. Also I should mention when my egfr was 55 I didn’t fast, at 41 I did fast and didn’t drink much at all. I don’t want dialysis I will not do it, my question is could fasting drop my egfr to 41? Is there a medication I could take to this kidney disease stops advancing?

My EGFR has been all over the place as well, but hydration is what fixed it for me. I was diagnosed temporarily with stage 3CKD, but now my EGFR is back to about 70 after using a water app to ensure that I drink about 68 ounces of water every single day. I hope this gives you some hope. I know that sometimes with kidney issues or dialysis you have to limit your intake of liquids. That’s a topic that I’m not that familiar with when it comes to dialysis.
In 2014 my eGFR was 60. My last blood draw, it was 23. I'll get another in September. I started intermittent fasting in 2017. I would eat in an 8 hour window and fast for 16 hours, but I drank a lot of water. 70-90 oz daily. My Neph thought that was ok, as long as I drank that much water. I ate very healthy, no red meat, lots of beans/rice, vegetables, fruits, low salt, etc. My BP always normal, mostly lower than 120/80. But my kidney function continued to deteriorate. My kidney disease is because of 35 years on lithium. I don't the cause of your fluctuations or what your disease is. You mention your immune system. There are a lot of autoimmune diseases that cause kidneys to deteriorate and I think that's where you need to be sure what's going on.
I do not want dialysis. I've made that decision. I would get a kidney transplant, but that's highly unlikely. My goal is to keep my kidney function as stable as I can for as long as I can.
Hello Ann, when you say temporary diagnosed with CKD can you please explain that. My GRF is declining somewhat and I’m afraid my kidneys are going to fail. I am a 42 year old female and recently was diagnosed with CKD. I have very little protein in my urine and creatinine is at 1.47. Please give me some insight. Thanks!
Ya I’ll try that, that does give me some hope, thank you
Ya I hear you, I told me doctor I’m not doing dialysis no matter what…. My mother said she would donate one of her kidneys to me if I ever needed it but that scares me to, the thought of getting cut open like that really scares me
What stage are you?
