Greetings those with aging bones. At 71 I'm already overdue to start treatment for osteoporosis. I have a doctor I trust and seek your opinions on the variety of available therapies.
I have no problem adding another pill to my modest regimen; my main concern is side effects that would impact an already poor physical state.
Specifically: Do any of the common meds cause increased pain or other side effects?
(I'm already dealing with MS, fibro, arthritis & long Covid.)
I promised myself and doctor to start immediately. Of course I'm asking Dr. Google, but I trust you more.
Thanks much.

I have an autoimmune disorder and I take Forteo. Some minor side effects, but overall success.

In addition osteoporosis (which sounds like a walk in the park,) my primary diagnosis is multiple sclerosis (*45 yrs) plus fibromyalgia, arthritis, ; long Covid.
I'm not bragging (Ha) I mention this because I am already dealing with a variety of pain, other symptoms and medications before starting treatment for osteo.
So of course, I want the easiest meds.
Thank you all for a wonderful conversation!
I've been referred to Endocrinology-- a mere *3* MONTHS from now. Goody goody.

A lot of people on this forum act like they are a doctor! Talk to your doctor follow the advice they give. The person who had not even had her doctor call her with the results of her bone scan and so one tried to read it for her. Not a reliable source and is not the one to tell her what that all means.
Please let your doctor give you the results and call him/her, don’t get upset yet. According to most of on this forum we would love to have your results. I am 72 and and -4.3 , broken 5 bones in the last 15 months. My last bone scan two years prior showed healthy bones no osteopenia even, it just jumped for some reason. So wait for your doctor or call them if you’re that worried. Good luck and take care.
