EBRT Simulation: Failed two CT scans because of gas - suggestions?

Posted by johnny8924 @johnny8924, Jan 25 7:38am

I had an EBRT radiation simulation yesterday but two CT scans indicated the presence of gas. Did anyone experience this before? Bowel was clean and the bladder was sufficiently full. Dietitian called me immediately after these results and recommended a low gas diet before my next simulation on February 6, 2025. Any suggestions, advice, etc greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You know gas ex worked for me but what I found worked better was a morning fast. I do that from time to time anyway, no food in the morning = no gas. People have different biology so short fasts work for some and not others.

Absolutely! I never eat breakfast anyway and most of my sessions were at 2PM or so I was really hungry skipping breakfast and lunch buy it was worth it for me.
For some reason some of us produce a lot of gas regardless of food - probably our own gut microflora at work - and I am one of those people. Thank goodness for GasX!

My first EBRT session is tomorrow February 19th, late afternoon. Will try to only eat lime Jello, if anything. Will definitely exercise at the gym to take my mind off EBRT.

Good luck, Johnny! Just be sure that Jello has real sugar in it and not the gassy sugar alcohols…it’s the little things that count!

I am quite disgusted. I received a call from the radiological center that my first EBRT session had to be postponed because their beam was “down”.
