Have you spoken with with ophthalmologist? Why would you like to remove the plugs? Are they not working?

Ugh! I have a lot of allergic reactions so Opthomologist recommended the dissolvable collagen plugs that dissolve over a period of up to 6 months. I am in the rare category of allergic reaction to the plugs and my Dr. states that they can't be removed without risky surgery. I have read about possible irrigation to push them out. I woondered if anyone has had to have them removed by a different method? Irrigation?

ugh! I have spoken with allergist and opthomologist but no plan yet other than taking zyrtec. I am allergic( very rare) to the collagen in the plug- they are dissolvable- but will take 6 months - so wondered if anyone has had these removed. I have been told since they are pushed down far that they cannot be removed without risky suegery but I was wondering about flushing them out.

@mtpeony, I moved your question about disposable eye plugs to this existing discussion:

@beegie asked a similar question and can hopefully tell you how their situation was resolved.

mtpeony, I know you are tired of hearing from me. My doctor tried to remove my temporary plugs at the 3 week mark (That is when they are usually dissolved) as one was almost dissolved and the other was not. He could not remove them at this point and I go back August 1st as they will probably be completely dissolved. I am hoping and praying that yours will dissolve soon and you will get relief. I personally would try a different eye doctor and get a 2nd opinion if I were you. I know this has to be miserable. Eyes are so sensitive. My heart goes out to you. Praying for you to get relief.
