Dry cornea & facial paralysis after middle cranial fossa
I just had the middle cranial fossa surgery on August 26th for a accoustic neuroma. Tumor was removed but was also stuck to my facial nerve. My understanding is that immediately post op, things looked pretty good but I did develop facial paralysis as the swelling and inflammation increased. Facial nerve responded to their tests appropriately and surgeons assure me things will get better with time. I am only 23 days post-op so I know it is early but would love to hear from others that suffered this post-op situation. Am currently doing pt and hoping to get an appt with a speech therapist asap.

After a craniotomy almost 2 years ago I had swelling and inflammation that resulted in me having have severe double vision for 3 months. The neurosurgeon also told me that it would get better with time, and at 3 months it resolved. So hang in there. Time is your friend.
Thank you for sharing your experience and your words of encouragement. It helps. I also have double vision in my left eye.
