Drug vacations

Posted by serious @serious, Aug 28 11:00am

I have been on a drug vacation from oral bisphosphonates, which worked very well, for one year. How do you know whether to extend the vacation for a second year or go to something else. My CTX and P1NP numbers appear stable. The something else that would probably be suggested is either Prolia for a Reclast shot. Any advice or suggestions or experiences here?

I just completed 12 months of Evenity and had zero side effects. I had good results, with improvements in t-scores from 2.5 to 1.9, and similar. I was astounded. I haven’t seen my specialist yet. I had previously been treated for the last 22 years as well, with Actonel, then Reclast. I’m not sure what comes next. I’m 67.

Hi @rebahilb it's great to hear your success story with evenity! If you don't mind, could you share your past history of osteodrug usage prior to evenity therapy, name of meds and length of treatment, any holidays etc. I am particularly interested in how many doses of reclast you had, as well as if you had a drug holiday prior to evenity treatment. Any info is appreciated. Thanks a lot!

That’s wonderful and encouraging news. I was so concerned about side effects while on Tymlos, and had a few, but nothing that made me stop. The biggest problem was ankle pain that started at about 16 months in, but the pain subsided 2 weeks after completing my 2-year protocol. I had good gains and am happy I decided to begin that drug therapy. Now I’m concerned about the side effects of Evenity but it appears, by many posts on this site, that most women do well with this drug. Thank you for responding to my post. What will you use now? It appears the options are very limited after Evenity. Keep us posted once you decide. Thank you. 🌹 Rose
