Done with radiation!!

Had my last treatment yesterday! My RO was on vacation so I saw another one that I’ve never seen before and I asked her what’s next, and she just said contact your urologist. So, under the next phase!

Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What's next??? I went for pizza and a T-Bone. My digestive system was very upset, but it was worth it. 😁

Congrats!!! I went through 38 sessions of salvage RT last fall, and know the feeling of relief after that last session. Took me about six weeks to fully recover from the radiation induced fatigue, but week by week I kept feeling more energetic. No more dietary restrictions and no more daily anxiety over filling my bladder and clearing my rectum.

Best wishes for smooth sailing going forward!

@mjp0512 That was brave. I wanted a huge greasy cheeseburger with fries but didn't want to pay the expected price.

Congratulations for finishing radiation!

That’s an interesting response to your question. What does your urologist (probably a surgeon?) have to do with what follows radiation treatments?

(I had been seeing my urologist for many years; but once I decided on proton radiation treatments (in December 2020), I haven’t seen him since. I saw my RO only twice after my treatments ended (at 6-month intervals). My medical oncologist no handles my follow-ups.). I’m now 5 years post-radiation treatments.

@dhasper - 😁Yea...I paid the price for a few days afterwards, but it was so worth it after a month and a half of tasteless junk to accomplish the full bladder empty bowel nonsense.

Congrats - please share any and all expected and unexpected outcomes: new/increased urinary incontinence? Rectal/bathroom issues? etc., etc. And...what were your original features to your cancer: Gleason score and surgical pathology report details like: EPE?, Surgical Margins? Seminal Vesicle invasion? Lymph node invasion?, and Stage of cancer: T1, T2, T3, etc. And finally: How long after your cancer diagnosis, and presumed prostatectomy, did you start radiation therapy - in other words, how many years were you cancer free before it returned? I may be assumptive here though...perhaps you chose radiation therapy instead of prostatectomy. Thank you
