Doh! Left a pad in my pants and it exploded in the washing machine

How many have done what I just did-left a spare pad in the back pocket of my pants and threw it into the washing machine.

Dang-the white filler inside the pad explodes and coverd everything in the wash. Dang dang dang.

So, I got out the industrial shop vac and sucked up as much of the white crud off of each piece of clothing as I could. Now throwing it all back in for another rinse cycle.

It looks like if you let the clothes air dry a bit, most of the stuff comes off with the vac. But, if it's made of cotton and dark colored....it doesn't want to let go.

Long day just got longer. Doh!

All I can is, at least it wasn’t one you forgot in your underpants. I was doing laundry the other day and thought a particular pair of underwear felt a little “different” - took a look and, yep, there was a thin shield in there. Caught it just in time!

Sorry you had this problem. I just did the same thing last week! Took me a long time to pick all the small pieces of white material off my clothes, and then I needed to clean the inside of the dryer by wiping it down, as there seemed to be a sticky feel to it. I had not noticed what I had done until after drying them. I often stick an extra pad in a pocket so I have an extra with me. I obviously need to be better about checking all pockets before throwing pants in the hamper.

A pad is bad enough. Try it with a diaper! I thought we’d be better off buying a new washing machine.

Sorry you had this problem. I just did the same thing last week! @ramblinman Yeah, it's the pad in the back pocket that got me. The shop vac actually did a really good job....both cleaning out the washer and then suctioning each piece of clothing.

@tico14 Oh no!!!! That would be bad. One pad is was a mess....a whole diaper...yikes!

I did a lot of weird things:

1. I tried to start our car with the TV remote.
2. I put the same TV remote in the refrigerator; we spent the whole day looking for it.
3. I gave the cat Caesar salad dressing instead of her food.

And that's not a complete list!
