Does Tymlos cause muscle and body aches?

Posted by tkdesign @tkdesign, Oct 8 8:23am

Recently been on Tymlos for a month and started getting deep muscle pain all over my body head to toe. Feels awful. Can't walk, hold things, touch things. I am on a very small dose only twice a week, so I thought highly unlikely, but I am super sensitive to drugs and also have spinal disease. AND the weather is changing lately...so I don't know what is what. My calcium levels checked out ok. I don't want to give up on the Tymlos as it was my last chance at something I could tolerate. But the body aches are also crippling.

You should discuss with your doctor. Aches and pains on a low infrequent dose are not usual. Or it could be something else. You could try stopping it for a week and see if the aches go away.

@tkdesign, What Tymlos dose are you taking? Do you take it at bedtime to sleep through the initial side effects? I understand the sensitivity to medications, because I have the same issue. I can only tolerate a half dose of Tymlos. At first, I even had side effects on a quarter dose. Tymlos can cause pain, but it should not stay in your body for days. It is supposed to leave your body in 4 hours, but my side effects always lasted most of the day. @njx58 suggested skipping it for a week to see what happens. That is probably a good idea, just to determine if something else is causing your pain.

Yes, I've been on it for nearly a year. I still get muscle fatigue in my legs. Some days are worse than others. I'm on full dose. I get weird zings of pain here and there. Those zaps of pain go away. But, I still have leg muscle aches.

Yes, I had muscle fatigue in my legs, depression and insomnia as well as horrible back spasms 10 minutes after the injection. Too much for me to tolerate in the long run.

My doctor said after two months all the side effects go away, and they did. I had to stop the full dose and titrate up parentheses start with smaller doses until I got to the full dose) but it was true after a couple months. Every single symptom went away. I think you have to do what you need to do to manage your life and also stay on the medicine if you can. It might mean having a couple goes at it. Good luck.

@maymore I would get side effects also 3-10 after injection.
It took several weeks for them to ease up. Stick with it, it’s a means to an end. Try n look at the big picture. Warm wishes

Yes, I started having hip joint pain in both hips and could not walk without limping.
I started on half a dosage but that didn't help so now my doctor and have agreed for
me to stop talking Tymlos.
