Does taking aromatase inhibitor at night contribute to insomnia?

Posted by sterzi @sterzi, Mar 13, 2023

I have been taking anastrozole for 2+ years. I take it before bed. I have been dealing with insomnia. Could this have contributed to it?

Best way to find out is to take it in the morning! That's what I did.

I took it in the morning, although I have had some insomnia since I was thrown into menopause with my breast cancer treatments. I can’t say it got worse with anastrazole which came 5 years into my journey.

@sterzi, I have been taking anastrozole since October. I take it at night and it doesn't bother my ability to sleep. The only time I have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep is if I have consumed too much caffeine. It may be best to speak to your pharmacist.

Yes, affected my sleep very much. I have terrible night flushes and insomnia similar to when I went through menopause. It was so much fun I decided to do it again…not! I have found relief in cbd gummies right before bedtime. I take the anastrozole at night because it causes nausea. The cbd helps with that also. Hope this helps you🙏

Thank you! Fortunately I don't have nausea taking it so I will switch to mornings and see how that goes. Since taking it my insomnia has gotten worse. Your idea about taking cbd gummies sounds interesting. Do you know if taking those gummies affect taking blood pressure meds?

I’ve been taking Leprozole for 5 days now. Tonight I can’t sleep. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?

I switched to morning and I “ may” have some improvement. Best to just try and see how ( if) you respond to the shift. Jury still out for me.

I take Letrozole at 10:30 pm with 10 mg of melatonin and Glucosamine chrondroitrin and usually fall asleep within a minute.

Extremely rare for me not to fall asleep quickly but has happened a couple of times.

Sorry, I missed seeing your question about blood pressure. No, actually my blood pressure has gone down since I began taking the cbd gummies. I think sleeping well has lessened my stress and because of that my bp has gone down. Take care🌹
