Yes
Thank you very much for making my day! My husband won’t qualify for Medicare until April. Our (very expensive) Blue Shield plan won’t cover it. However our oncologist has put him on it and is giving him bottles of his free samples. He said when he runs out he will ask the drug company for more free samples! Thanks again for your response and have a great day.
Orgovyx is covered by Medicare Part D .... but the cost/co-pay is totally dependent on your particular plan. The new Part D limit is $2,000 out of pocket annually and your co-pay for Orgovyx will reach that amount quickly but after that it's no-charge until the next year.
If you are dealing with an Advantage plan or a medi-gap plan, there's another hurdle: prior authorization. Your Doctor will have to convince your insurance company that this drug is medically necessary for your husband's condition and why an alternative (and lesser expensive) medication isn't suited for your husband's condition.
The injectable form (Digarelix) is more easily approved and while it's inconvenient to get monthly sub-q injections, it works well and in my opinion (2 years on Digarelix) it's preferable to Lupron ... and it's covered by Medicare Part B (much less hassle).
I know at least two people who got Orgovyx For free from the drug company for at least two years. A lot of it depends on your income.
I have a Medicare Advantage plan, and it was just a matter of the Dr submitting my test results to get it covered. Same with Nubeqa. Oh, and the Medicare Part D limit is increasing to $2,100 in 2026. (Just got the book)
There's a cost until deductible is met.
I am not taking Orgovyx but I checked the coverage with my Advantage plan. Copay is 29%, or $975/mo.
Yes - a substantial one!!
Yep... the bad news is the copay is pricey. The good news is between cancer and heart meds, I hit the cap in January and pay nothing the remainder of the year.
Yeah I think the cut off is around 75K for household income. I got copay assistance through my Urology practice. Didn't ask for it but turned out I knew the practice's Pharm manager and SSI had screwed up my Medicare so was in between coverage. The first bottle no information required the second and there on would require an application that includes all medical and financial information and a decision from them. Gratefully I only needed one to finish my treatment so didn't have to do a thing.
