Does CLL cause minor daily fevers of maybe 1 or 2 degrees?

Posted by aethelstan @aethelstan, Jun 15 12:08pm

I was diagnosed with CLL in April 2024 so I have many questions. I have noticed the lymph nodes in my armpits and under my jaw have been swollen for about 3 (?) years. Which makes me think I have had this for some years already. I have also noticed that I have what seems to be minor fevers of about a degree or 2 to the point my ears turn dark red, almost purple. My daughter noticed them from the other side of the dinner table. This happens almost every day at some point. Is this a common symptom? I believe it is minor but I'm just curious I guess.

Here are some good resources on the signs and symptoms of CLL and SLL. The low-grade fever you mentioned and night sweats are common symptoms as are swollen glands.

Hi @aethelstan, as this is a new diagnosis for you, you may wish to explore some of the other CLL related discussions:

If your chronic lymphocytic leukemia doesn't cause symptoms and doesn't show signs of getting worse, you may not need treatment right away. Has a treatment plan been discussed with you? You mentioned that you have many questions. Ask away!

Thanks for responding. So far I have had only 1 appointment with my oncology doctor in April. I have another appointment scheduled for 19 July. The "symptoms" I have or think I have are: at least 5 swollen lymph nodes, (armpits jaw and behind left ear), daily minor fevers, I'm also having some pain on my lower right abdomen, recently now I have intermittent pain on my left side under my floating rib. Since I have no experience with this, my question is: should I just wait until 19 July to let my Dr. know this stuff or should I message him with these issues?

Hi @ethelstan, Anytime there are changes in your health, espeically if it’s concerning swollen lymph nodes, fever, pain in your abdomen, etc., these are the types of things that should be reported to your doctor right away. There’s never a reason that you shouldn’t feel free to call your doctor’s office or write to them in the portal.

With your changing symptoms and daily minor fevers, you’re obviously concerned. I think it would give you some peace of mind to contact your oncologist now instead of waiting for your appointment later in July. A simple phone call can relieve this decision making stress for you. What do you think? ☺️
