Does Botox really help with OAB?

same question for me. gettng up 7-8 times at night. doctor suggested botox. Please let me know if you get any response.

Yes, it does help. I have a complex incontinence history with two sling procedures, a Bulkamid injection which caused a urinary blockage and emergency surgery. Total incontinence after that. After 6 months I had my second sling procedure. This helped somewhat but still had quite a bit of leakage. My doctor said this was due to OAB. So, we did botox injections in March. They have helped, but not cured the situation. My leakage is less and I can go with the small Poise pads most of the time now. I am now almost 5 months in and the leakage is starting to get a little more. I am due for my next injections in September. I am having the injections again because it has helped some, but wish I could get a total cure.

I have been receiving Botox bladder injections every 6 months for the last two years. It is the only therapy that has worked for me. I had side effects from the oral medications. An Interstim was placed four and a half years ago. It was removed earlier this year. It never really worked well. It only marginally reduced the severe urgency, frequency of urination and incontinence that I had been experiencing. With Botox, my symptoms are remarkably well controlled. I am comfortable traveling and being in public away from a restroom for hours at a time.
Everyone is different. What works for one person might not work for someone else.
The disadvantage of Botox is the need for ongoing treatment, but it is fully reversible (unlike implantable devices such as the Interstim unit). So if it doesn't work you can simply stop it.
